The
Diversity Scholarship
Although there are various scholarships already available for
students at the University of Kentucky, the Diversity Scholarship
should be of particular interest to international students. This
Diversity Scholarship, also known as the William C. Parker
Scholarship Program, is based on the applicant's ranking within the
competitive pool. Its values range from the cost of in-state
tuition to the cost of in-state tuition, room, meals, and $600
stipend per year.
The incoming freshman William C. Parker Scholarship is a four-year
renewable award, contingent upon full-time enrollment at the
University of Kentucky and a minimum cumulative University of
Kentucky grade point average of 2.50 or better.
Graduate
Student Scholarships
There are many assistantships, fellowships and
grants offered by the University of Kentucky for which all
graduate students, including international students, are eligible.
The most common of these are graduate assistantships, which provide
full tuition, health insurance premiums and a living
stipend in return for doing research or assisting in teaching
undergraduate courses. To be considered for this aid,
inform the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) of the program to
which you are applying. Some programs require a specific
assistantship/fellowship form.
The Kentucky Graduate Scholarship is a merit-based
scholarship opportunity for non-resident applicants to the
University of Kentucky Graduate School.
Further
Financing Your Tuition and Living Expenses
Funding sources can differ depending on the region of the world in
which students live. We strongly suggest contacting the nearest
Overseas Education Advising Center or the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in
your country. These centers have updated information about
financial assistance and can assist with the application
process.
International students can also work on campus for up to 20 hours a
week while enrolled full-time. The student employment center
assists students in finding job opportunities on campus. In 2007,
it posted over 4,000 positions for students.
